VidyaGyan, a pioneering rural leadership school run by the Shiv Nadar Foundation, empowers talented students from economically weaker sections in rural India, nurturing them to become agents of change for their communities. Established in 2009, VidyaGyan selects 200 exceptional children each year—out of over 150,000 applicants—with family incomes below Rs 1 lakh, offering them world-class residential education free of cost. The academy’s comprehensive programs foster both academic and personal growth, opening global opportunities for students like Nischal Bhardwaj, who will study psychology at the University of California, Davis, and Manvi Chaudhary, who earned a full scholarship to Wellesley College. VidyaGyan’s graduates have traveled abroad, represented India at global forums, and inspired peers in their villages, demonstrating the academy’s vision to transform rural youth into socially conscious leaders. This initiative, led by Roshni Nadar, exemplifies creative philanthropy and grassroots impact in education. VidyaGyan, identifies meritorious rural students across 16 states of India. The organization provides transformative residential education to students from Grades 6–12, nurturing leadership skills and creating scalable, replicable empowerment models for communities within India and beyond.
